The world needs more land use change – Workshop in EUBCE 2016
This workshop highlights bioenergy as an opportunity to integrate new biomass production into landscapes to mitigate land use impacts and improve resource use efficiency and sustainability. The workshop will feature contributions from a broad range of disciplines addressing issues such as:
- Land and water impacts of land use change associated with bioenergy expansion
- Methods to assess impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem services
- Governance to promote landscape management and design balancing multiple goals related to environmental and resource management
Participants are invited to share experiences and views on how biomass production can be localised, designed and managed to support both provisioning and regulating ecosystem services to meet future demand for food, energy and materials, as well as nature conservation needs.
