The conference will be held in the light of the possible changes to the Renewable Energy and Fuel Quality Directive (RED: 2009/28/EC and FQD: 98/70/EC) in November 2013 arising from the so-called trialogue procedure between the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament and the European Commission, which will then come to a decision on policy changes that could negatively affect and even threaten the existence of the biofuel industry in and outside of the European Union – a new biofuel target of 5 % and i-LUC-factors have been a topic of intensive debate as concerns the funding policies and will be picked up during the conference.
More than 500 participants and more than 60 speakers from around the world are again expected to attend the conference in the next year, which will bring together representatives from biomass cultivation, trade and production as well as the petroleum and the automotive industry. Besides this, the organizers will also welcome political decision-makers, auditors and environmental verifiers as well as members of environmental protection and nature conservation groups, the press and the general public.
