IEA Bioenergy Task 33 is hosting a workshop on Waste Gasification in Petten, the Netherlands on Tuesday May 8.

The full-day workshop will have presentations on gasification of waste biomass and RDF for heat, power and substitute natural gas. On Wednesday May 9 there will be technical tours to Torrgas and ESKA in Groningen.

Group reservations have been made at two hotels in Alkmaar. Bus transport will be foreseen between Alkmaar and Petten at the start and the end of the workshop on Tuesday May 8. The bus for the site visit on Wednesday May 9 will also start from Alkmaar.

Site visit to Torrgas and ESKA on Wednesday 9 May:

  • 7:30 The bus will leave from the Amrath hotel in Alkmaar to Groningen
  • 7:40 The bus will leave from Grand hotel Alkmaar to Groningen
  • 10:00 We will arrive at ESKA in Hoogezand, where we will visit an installation where paper rejects are gasified to use for steam production.
  • 11:30 We will leave for the next visit nearby
  • 12:00 We will arrive at Torrgas in Groningen. Here we will have lunch and a tour at the facilities. The Torrgas gasifier is developed for syngas production.
  • 14:30 We will leave and will pass by Schiphol to drop off people that need to take their flight.
  • 16:30 We expect to arrive at Schiphol at 16:30, here is also a good connection with the train for people travelling by train.
  • 17:15 We expect to be back in Alkmaar
