IEA Bioenergy Task 37 (Energy from Biogas) organizes a webinar on the sustainability effects associated with biogas solutions.

Biogas solutions based on anaerobic digestion (AD) can take many different forms. While the provision of renewable energy (the biogas) receives most attention, it is essential to observe that that biogas systems are multi-functional and part of delivering key products and services to society, such as nutrients, fodder, clean water, chemicals, and environmental services including sustainable management of natural resources. Across the globe, there is great potential for expanded adoption of biogas solutions.

SPEAKERS

Firstly, Jonas Ammenberg will present the broad range of sustainability effects that are associated with biogas systems, based on a scientific literature review.

The second presentation, delivered by Maria Wellisch, will focus on comprehensive assessments of anaerobic digestion, and provide valuable insights to guide sustainable development.

In the third presentation, Rune Holmstad will introduce VEAS, Norway’s largest wastewater treatment plant, with a focus on its integrated resource recovery.
