BBEST & IEA BIOENERGY 2024 CONFERENCE
The BBEST – IEA Bioenergy 2024 Conference will take place in São Paulo, the capital city of the São Paulo state, Brazil, from October 22nd to 24th, 2024.
Every three years IEA Bioenergy organizes a conference to present the main developments in the bioenergy field. After successful events in 2012 (Vienna), 2015 (Berlin), 2018 (San Francisco) and 2021 (online), we are now teaming up with BBEST – the Brazilian Bioenergy Science and Technology Conference – which is held every three years in Brazil.
Organized by the Bioenergy Research Program (BIOEN/FAPESP), the IEA Bioenergy Technology Collaboration Program, and the Bioenergy Society (SBE), the BBEST – IEA Bioenergy 2024 Conference will bring important topics such as responsible land use and agricultural productivity; feedstock mobilization; sustainability of bioenergy pathways; biofuels for air, sea and road transport; heat and power from biomass and waste; renewable gases; the future of biorefineries; the use of biogenic carbon; and strategies for the circular carbon economy.
Registration for the conference is now open. The conference programme frame can be found below. There is still room in the program for extra oral presentations and posters. Abstracts can be submitted until 30 July, 2024.

Tuesday 22 October, afternoon
opening ceremony, with keynote lectures from global policy representatives, followed by the BIOEN 15-Year Celebration
Wednesday 23 October, morning
two plenary policy sessions related to policies to support sustainable bioenergy and synergies with the bioeconomy
Wednesday 23 October, afternoon
two tracks of four parallel sessions
Thursday 24 October, morning
two tracks of four parallel sessions
Thursday 24 October, afternoon
one track of four parallel sessions, followed by the closing ceremony – awards session
Poster sessions will be organized on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.
On Friday 25 October, a study tour will be organized to the Iracema sugar mill (180 km from São Paulo).
