Advanced Test Methods for Firewood Stoves – Consequences of real-life operation on stove performance

The comparison of official type test results with field tests confirmed that typical real-life heating operation results in significantly higher emissions and lower efficiencies. Real-life oriented test concepts are capable to better reflect real-life performance of the appliances compared to existing EN standards. An implementation of a real-life oriented test protocol as a quality label or standard should be considered as an instrument to push technological development towards optimized real-life operation and to enable a better differentiation of products for the end customer.
